Plans change

April 30, 2007 at 3:52 pm (life happenings)

Well, I had intended on using my off Sunday to visit a good friend who works in Orlando. It’s only a couple hour drive and I thought it would be a great day-off trip. Well, late last night I got a text saying that he had gotten a job at the last minute and suggested holding off for now.

So, I got to sleep in (which was nice and somewhat needed). After I got up and decided to head over to the beach. As I drove and got closer, I realized that the “smoke haze” was back. For those who don’t know, there is a fire in southern Georgia that has been burning for a week now and has claimed over 68,000 acres of forest. Depending on weather and wind conditions, we get some of the smoke down here (the fire is around 100 miles away).

The highway next to the shoreline today was the dividing line. On the shore side, the sky was blue and clear. On the land side, the sky was hazy and the sun was breaking through in this strange and ominous copper color. It’s a very weird site to behold.

Please pray for those who have been affected by the fire and also that it doesn’t blow this way (selfish, I know).
